Don't stay here if you want WIFI
The room was ok but small, the TV didn't work, the WIFI didn't work, there wasn't any onsite parking for cars, the rooms were loud at night due the loud music multiple floors below me

Great little place
The Josh Hotel is tucked away in a quiet side road close to the hustle and bustle of Soi Ari. Really convenient for the more tourist-driven parts of Bangkok but a nice place to go back to in the evening if you need a bit of peace and quiet. Staff are friendly (although you'll need to be tuned in to Thai pronunciation of some English words to fully understand what you're being told) and like everywhere in Thailand, you'll be greeted with a warm smile. The rooms are clean and well-looked after, and the beds very comfortable. This last week *would have been* my third stay at Josh Hotel but for the coronavirus pandemic first causing the cancellation of the Thai MotoGP event and then the cancellation of my flights home, meaning I could not even travel to BKK. Neverthelessless, I would recommend Josh Hotel for solo or family travellers who need a clean and comfortable place to rest their head for the night, but perhaps not so much if you want to hang by the pool, bar, restaurant and have an "in-hotel", "not-venturing-out-too-often" kind of holiday. For that, you might want something with an extra star or two in its rating. Oh yes! Also, don't bank on early check-in, even if you have requested and had this confirmed. Seems late-checkouts over-ride early check-ins!

Overall I liked it, and it was a welcome change from the typical Bangkok chain hotels. The staff were lovely and super helpful. Cleanliness was a bit lacking for me. My first room had animal droppings on the floors near the bed and in the bathroom. They moved me to a different room, which had dead bugs everywhere. The bathrooms reeked of mold/mildew. I was traveling with others and didn't hear any complaints from them, so might have been an isolated issue.

Nice vintage design, but very small room. Not very convenient design of the room due to limited space. Located inside a residential neighbourhood but the neighbours’ dog starts to bark every morning at 5pm, quite annoying.

Great boutique hotel for short stays only
The hotel is strategically located amongst a bevy of cafes and restaurants. It was clean and the staff were pleasant. The amenities suffice for a short stay. However, I did find some of the design elements and amenities lacking. There should be a clock in every room, the towels could never dry properly because it was hung on hooks instead of a rack, there were no hand towels which can easily be hung beneath the sink.

Such an instagrammable hotel just away from Ari Station 10 minutes walking. There are lots of restaurant and also stalls selling local food around this area. Plus point! The staffs so friendly. I wish if the bed could be a little bit softer then it's perfect !

One of the most photogenic and Instagrammable hotels you will find, with a lot of character inside and out. Rooms are a little small, but where the hotel lacks they make up for with nice little touches like the premium-smelling shampoo and body wash, and cosy atmosphere. Overall quite a comfortable stay.

Small room but convenient location.
The hotel itself was clean however the room was quite small. We had two suitcases which made it very difficult to get around the room as there wasn’t much space. There is a small pool, just about big enough to get a bit of a swim in. The ‘secret’ bar was pretty cool, serving some delicious cocktails. Location was very convenient for access to the BTS. Plenty of restaurants around to eat in.

Call it a lesson learned. I was on a flight from Phuket to Bangkok and in the travel magazine on the plane was an article about the Hotel Josh. You are lured in by the cute kitsch of the “Wes Anderson” inspired room in the photos. The pool. The retro decor and style. I hadn’t booked a hotel yet, so when I landed, I went there. The reality is, the hotel in reality is nothing like in the magazine. The smallest room you can imagine. The bathroom is worse, with cheap bargain bin materials. There is a hole in the wall for “air” in the bathroom because it’s got no ventilation. The walls are paper thin and noises aplenty. A boutique hotel in a throng of cheap houses with the cliché barking dog that wakes you up in morning. The bed is hard as rocks but the staff were lovely. Friendly and helpful, but that is not enough to recommend. It’s another hotel that photographs well, but in reality is a bit of a bait n switch. From the mega hot hallways and moldy shower smell to the zero work space availability in the room. Two towels, no soap and our room had no phone to call the front desk. A few paintings and some kooky furniture does not a Wes Anderson production make.

Style over substance in a great location
The location of the Josh hotel is great. A very up-and-coming neighbourhood with cosy, trendy places to eat mixed in with street food vendors and traditional Bangkok street life. The hotel itself is very basic, but has some hipster touches to make it feel more contemporary. The Jean Jullien rip offs on the walls feel like a nod to boutique hotel culture, but don't quite make up for the impractical wifi and uncomfortable bathrooms that make or break a short stay in Bangkok. Staff are friendly although take a very laid-back attitude, and are often a little perfunctory. Small changes, like tea and coffee facilities in the room and open wifi would make this place more than a simple hostel with some trendy flourishes, and into a really comfortable, contemporary urban oasis. Given the huge range of places to stay in Bangkok in this price range, you might consider choosing something less "hipster" and more comfortable.

The good: Very cool place, excellent value for money, great design, cool secret bar, comfy beds, good air con. The almost good: Breakfast could be better quality. Pool area not very private, great pool but it was hard to relax with dozens of Instagramers who are just walkiing in off the street taking hundreds of selfies while you try and swim or sit beside the pool. Be good if the pool area was for hotel guests only.

MONEY 'DISAPPEAR' FROM THE ROOM
Stay 3 nights. We were rush out in morning for work so we didnt ask for any room service. Came back night time and found new towel on bed, our own country money was gone and explanation given was unacceptable. No mood since then and we locked our luggage when stay at there all the time.

1. We provide 2 drinking water bottles per day. 2. We inform our guests if the room need to be cleaned, kindly put the signage of cleaning the room at the door when the guests are not in. 3. Due to limit space which matching to modern design, so it looks small. 4. House phone is on each floor next to fire exit way. 5. Water bottles are in the drawers under coffee table the guests can take it from there. 6. Normally all cooking eggs are on requested by the guest
