We arrived early and it was no problem to leave our bags while we went and did some sightseeing.
Upon our return our bags were in the room and room beautifully presented. One of the staff showed us around the room and the features. We went for the 2 bed room as there were 4 of us. Very clean and new. Extremely comfortable beds and excellent air con. This is a more modern Ryokan than we have stayed in but we really liked that, as it felt fresh, modern but also authentic, ie tatami mats and futons, plus we had our very own hot tub( onsen) on our private balcony! When we arrived 2 staff came to our room and performed a matcha tea ceremony. This was a beautiful welcome, and really delicious too!
Breakfast the next morning was an absolute highlight! Kuzu was our personal chef, who cooked simple but delicious fresh vegetables and meat over a hot charcoal grill in front of us. His English was excellent which was great as we were able to ask lots of questions about food, culture, sightseeing, etc
Location was a little out of the hub of Kyoto, but we just called taxis when we wanted to go further afield. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, we would have liked a few more.
