The hotel is a mixed bag, but overall very good!
First the bad(?) news. It’s an older building that’s been refurbished, but the third floor is not yet completed. Stayed on the third floor, with uneven floor and carpet. Bedsheets were stained but appeared to be laundered and clean. Sink drained much more slowly towards the end of our stay. The trains running from the station next door contributed to the noise factor in an otherwise quiet neighbourhood. We didn’t mind all this, but I understand these are factors other guests would consider.
The good news is that the staff are very friendly and accommodating - they were able to resolve any issues we brought up (new towels and bed sheets, the drain, etc.). The train noise was the only thing they couldn’t control, so I recommend sleeping with headphones or earplugs.
If you only require a hotel to lay your head and freshen up between outings to London, then I would highly recommend this place! The easy access to the Tube station (on the Piccadilly line) was a huge factor in choosing this place. The hotel is far enough from London to bring down the price, if you don’t mind a 45 minute commute into the city. Neighbourhood is great, quiet with little cafes around and a Sainsbury to pack up on sandwiches and snacks for the day. There’s a laundromat the next train stop over.
Overall, a good pick for the budget traveller that enjoys comfort, but isn’t too fussed by minor inconveniences.
