I’ve already written to the chief executive of easyHotel to complain about this hotel.
The management here seem to have decided to either lock guests in or gone too far in trying to keep other people out. You can’t get out of the hallway and into reception without your room key. No push button for the unsuspecting guests here. I got caught out by this, but fortunately a staff member let me out.
Far more concerning than this social commentary was the fact that the thermostat in my room was defective and decided to default to 27C all night. This is undescribably hot and uncomfortable. I drank a litre and a half of water overnight before I ran out at 3am and downed a litre the following morning when I made it to a shop. I felt absolutely terrible and burst into tears at reception when I told them about it. They sympathetically told me I could have called down to reception so it could be reset manually, but I’m not convinced that this is the solution (particularly as the number isn’t displayed anywhere). They really should be maintaining their hotel better.
That said, I wasn’t surprised. The room was scabby. Wallpaper was peeling off, the bathroom was displaying the first signs of damp damage and my bed hadn’t been made properly. I assume it was the cleaner’s hair that I found draped around my towel.
I get that it’s cheap but I think we should expect better.
Also, getting there was a nightmare on foot. The road was impossible to cross easily and safely.
