The Rembrandt

"I am writing this review in hopes that it will be helpful to anyone who, like me, looked at 1000 properties and now has property blindness. This hotel is in an excellent South Kensington location where the red bus 14 can take you pretty much anywhere in under 30 minutes. It is central to all of the historical sites one would visit in London. The site does offer a breakfast buffet for an additional price and while it will mention there is a pool on site-there is not. The spa next door grants you access for a price about $23 a day USD, less for children. I booked through Expedia and found the details of the cost of the pool obscured, or lost after comparing so many properties. We also unfortunately visited during a heat wave and the pool is temperature controlled, which is no fun when you’ve been in the heat all day and 90% of the locations around have no AC. The AC at the Rembrandt works well, which was a bonus. Overall, our family would recommend this hotel."

"Nicely situated and appreciated consideration in room placement. Prefer to not have heavy thud/ club music in the foyer/ lounge area in the evening, i avoid the trendy styled hotels for this reason and the crowd it seems to attract. Deterred from sitting there because of this and ultimatelt went to another hotel lounge to just sit and work."

"My room was clean and spacious with a small well equipped kitchen space. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The location was perfect with easy access to both the Piccadilly line to get to King’s Cross and the District line to get to Kew Gardens. We walked to Hyde park after dinner closeby. I will definitely stay here again."

"The room we were given initially was shocking! Dark, dingy with a terrible smell and a view of a brick wall. The carpet was wet with something and they had clearly used air fresheners to disguise this. No iron, no hairdryer and the wardrobe wouldn't open due the placement of furniture. This room should not have been given to anybody. When we booked in we were initially offered an option to upgrade which we turned down- without having seen the room then when we discovered the state of the room it took 4 trips to reception by either myself and my husband for them to move us. They initially advised that the hotel was full and nothing could be done till the following morning - under duress we were prepared to wait, however when my husband got into the bed and it was damp, this was the final straw! He returned to reception and insisted that a member of staff accompany him back to the room to see for themselves. Chris the night manager did this and having been on his knees to inspect the wet carpet he had to concede that the room was indeed unacceptable! They did manage to find another room (which we never doubted) and this was far superior and clean. The rest of th hotel itself is clean and comfortable and in a good location for the tube station across the road however on reflection we were not too keen on the area itself so we would choose an alternative for our next trip to London. Chris did his best eventually and for that we are grateful but it did take the edge off our stay."

"We had a great stay at this hotel. The location was fantastic, with the Piccadilly Line station just outside the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in London. The staff were outstanding friendly, professional, and always happy to help. They really contributed to making our stay a pleasant experience. The room itself was good and comfortable. The only downside was that the wall-to-wall carpeting felt a little dated and could probably use an update. It was also possible to hear some noise from neighboring rooms, especially when one of our neighbors was talking loudly. That said, some level of noise is something you have to expect when staying in a hotel. Overall, the excellent location and exceptional staff far outweighed the minor drawbacks. We would happily stay here again."
