Lovely retro hotel.
Very pleasant retro hotel, bit frayed around the edges but clean and comfortable plus excellent breakfast, nice bath and sauna on roof. Plenty off spaces to sit and relax, great location and friendly efficient staff.

We were a family of four with kids 9 and 4. We had to adjust the living area to accommodate our needs better (2 suitcases and a car seat), but once that was done, it was fine (we moved the table against the wall and had just 2 sides for seating). Our room had a pond/fountain nested into the corner, which we didn't use and would've have simply preferred it to be extra space. We did enjoy our personal soaking tub, but it drained while soaking, despite having the plug in. It does have elevators, but the doors shut quickly, so be careful. While we enjoyed its close proximity to Akihabara, it is on a graded street, so you'll have to walk uphill when returning. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the daily breakfast and its variety of options. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay that felt like you were being hosted by a local family. It's probably a bit too small for a family with older kids, but with our smaller kids, it worked out fine. Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback.Hotel Edoya is a Japanese-style ryokan-style hotel that receives about 80% of overseas travelers on a daily basis. Although the facilities are old, there are many overseas travelers who come to enjoy the charm of the tatami mats and the conversations with the multilingual staff, including English, Spanish, Korean, and French. We are looking forward to seeing you again.

Great little old style Ryokan with Onsen (Sento) and men's Sauna. A bit dated, but that makes it charming. The rooms are good size compared to a typical biz hotel in the city. Nice big area for bathtub/shower in your room. The onsen are pretty basic but nice. The outdoor bath was very enjoyable for me. Unfortunately the location is not really by much local transportation (trains). A couple conbini not terribly far away. But right around the corner is a full grocery store (Summit - サミットスト). The grocery had all kind of wonderfully prepared food as well. So I could use the microwave at the hotel. I also got McDonalds delivered in like 13 minutes one night. Staff had good to great English, and we got everything figured out, even with my lack of/or lazy Japanese. Super friendly and helpful, every time. I shipped my luggage with delay to my next hotel. Coin laundry on site but I didn't use it. Outdoor patio on the 6th floor. You also get a ticket for breakfast buffet at the restaurant next door (Kosetsu - 古拙). Lots of great and fresh options. The Corn Soup was amazing! Big on the shumai as well. Tall People : Beware the low door openings. :)

Very pleasant traditional Japanese room. Futons on the floor for sleeping and low table for eating. Tatami mat floors. Only issue was a very small bathroom but manageable. Very nice outdoor onsen!

Good location, quiet area, walking distance to several subway lines. Hotel is overdue for a renovation, bathroom in particular was in poor condition especially given the prices charged for rooms.

A very traditional feel of Japan. But traditional does not always need to be old. The hotel needs update. Staffs are friendly. Morning Breakfast does not have much choose. The location is OK. It is about 10 minutes walk from Akihabara and 15 minutes from Ueno. the hotel is also on a small hill. If you walking with luggage, take a taxi is better.

Friendly and helpful staff, very accommodating . We lost a wallet which they helped us retrieve, with all its contents. The rooftop onzen is great after a long day of sightseeing!

This is an older but clean hotel with a breakfast buffet offering western and Japanese options. The room I stayed in was a decent sized traditional tatami room with a small couch and coffee table. There are separate rooms for shower and tiled bath, toilet (super tiny) and sink (actually part of entrance before the main room). Can hang clothes near entrance and inside room. Looks to be popular with European guests. There is a bath facility on the top floor with a small outdoor bath, lounge area and a terrace.

We liked the location, the Japanes style room and bathrobes. The breakfast and roof tub public bath were good to have. What we didn't like were the dirty looking bathtub in our room, translucent bathroom door (lack of privacy), and the dirty carpet in the hallway.

Hotel Edoya is a charming and old style hotel. My room was larger than some of the other hotels I have stayed in Tokyo at a comparable price with added amenities. There is a sento on the top floor, a rooftop terrace and coffee, tea and daily newspapers is offered in the lobby. Breakfast was included and was a nice way to start the day. The staff were very friendly and always welcomed you back after a day out. The location between Akihabara and Ueno is excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. I enjoyed my stay here and now will be my go to hotel to Tokyo.

Stay at hotel edoya
Its very traditional Japanese feel but after awhile, you notice the moderness beyond the traditional exterior. The room is separated into bathing area, toilet area and main sleeping area. In the bathing area, it's a simple shower with a deep soaking area. The shampoo and soap are provided in packets. The futon is very comfortable. There are green tea packets to welcome you. Overall, its very well equipped and comfortable stay. Note the owners do not speak much English so they may appear unfriendly. There is an onsen on top and it is available to hotel guests. The location of the hotel is on the mid of a hill so be prepared to climb. The breakfast is traditional Japanese style and the food is good. Worth your stay!

ホテルの古さは気になりました。土壁で指が擦れたり、建具が古く服をひっかけたりしました。部屋は4人で泊まるには狭かったので、荷物を広げる場所がなかったです。 ホテルからトンカツを食べに行ったり、居酒屋でお酒を飲んだり、秋葉原まで歩いて行ったりしたので、立地はよいと思います。

いい感じの宿でした‼️
和室の宿を探していて今回泊まることにしました。車で行きましたが立地上車で来られる宿泊者は少ない感じで駐車台数は少ない感じですがホテル敷地内に停めることができました。車で行かれる方は事前に電話した方がよいです。私はリクエストで記入しましたが、電話での確認の方が確実だと思います。 ホテルの感じはいい感じの昔感がありますが、綺麗にされていますし、静かです。当日は多くの海外の方が宿泊されていましたが、問題はありません。事前の口コミで朝食がいい感じとあったので楽しみにしておりまして実際に利用しましたが、大変満足でした。バイキング形式で充分にお腹を満たしてくれました。 チェックアウト時に受付の方がトイレに行かれていたようで、探していると海外の方が英語で教えてくれて簡単な英語でやりとりするのも斬新な感じを受けました。近くに神田明神や湯島天神があるので散歩するのも良い感じです。また利用したいと思います。

I stay several time in this hotel whenback to Tokyo, It's a Japanese style with a relaxing atmosphere. Many foreigner stay here and seem to enjoy Japanese room, breakfast, public bath. This place locates a little bit far from main station, but 4-5 min from nearest station, Yushima so can be reached on foot.
