About Roppongi

The Roppongi area is one of the most interesting parts of the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Thanks to its inviting attractions and ample services, Roppongi is arguably Tokyo’s cosmopolitan hearth. It is renowned for its magnificent shopping, restaurants and nightlife. It is set in the centre of the city too, so plenty of things to see and do are on hand within a short distance of Roppongi.

Don’t Miss

There are several interesting museums located within the Roppongi district. Inside the famous Roppongi Hills complex is the Mori Art Museum, which boasts plenty of interesting art exhibitions. Another popular art gallery is the Suntory Art Museum, inside the Tokyo Midtown complex. Art enthusiasts cannot miss the National Art Centre Tokyo. This modern art centre is the most famous one in Japan and hosts many changing exhibitions.

Tokyo is a beautiful city despite its intense concrete-jungle atmosphere. One of the best ways to see it is by visiting the Roppongi Hills building and taking in the views from 250 metres above the street. There is a 360-degree vantage point at the top of the tower.

Restaurants and Bars

Visitors can find a range of different cuisines in and around Roppongi. The shopping malls boast a huge assortment of local and international restaurants. The cheapest options are the fast-food establishments. There are many high-end restaurants operating in the district. Japanese, American, Thai, and European influences dominate the gastronomy scene here. After the sun sets, Roppongi really comes to life. There is a huge selection of pubs and clubs in this district, which also hosts the Tokyo Pub Crawl, a series of themed pub crawls that take place throughout the year.

Shopping

Most of the shopping in Roppongi is high-end. Mori Tower, where the Roppongi Hills complex is located, has a wide range of retailers and goods, including many international brand name items. Most of the bottom floors are designated shopping areas. Nearby buildings also boast shopping facilities on the lower floors.
