The prison
Very dark Very damp No windows in room The rooms which haven’t been rennovated are reminiscent of a prison. Nice staff but I wouldn’t recommend staying for all the above reasons

If you would like to have a nice holiday, DO NOT
-overpriced -smells like mould and rotten fruit -no windows, ANYWHERE -extremwly uncomfy beds -room smaller than a prison cell -walls so thin you can hear a conversation from 5 rooms away -complimentary breakfast is mouldy bread and tub of mystery spread -boys bathrooms smelled and we're covered in urine -hairs clogged the shower drains in the girls bathroom -staff are inexperienced and generally don't care about the people staying in their hostel. Would definitely not recommend. An absolutely terrible experience, changed our whole perspective of Singapore , and can say for certain I will never go back to that hostel and may never return to Singapore again either :(

Overpriced and underwhelming
We stayed here four nights in two different rooms. The first was a loft and the ladder was so steep that I chose to sleep on the chair in the lower section. The second "deluxe" room was with a bunk bed and facing the very loud road. The woman's bathroom was constantly wet with the water leaking from the showers into the toilet area. Both rooms and the hallways smell if mould. It was nice to have toast available for breakfast but the room was so crowded that I found it quite stressful to be in there. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We had to go to the other 5footway hostel for our SIM card and they were both friendly and helpful. They have outdated tourist information posted and both my husband and I informed them of this after having tried to attend an event that is no longer running. I even offered to take down the poster for them but they said they would take care of it. Two days later it was still there. The area is terrific but there are lots of hostels in the area and I would select one of those over this one.

Excellent location, horrible room
Booked a double room which is supposed to have a city view. Arrived at hostel to find out that the room doesn't have a window, smells musty and dirty. Imagine being inside a very old garage with very old books and other old stuff inside. Breathing was definitely a problem for me and I had to keep the room door open so I can at least get some air from the corridor. Asked the staff about the city view and the window and staff said hotels.com have put wrong info on the website and they do not have any rooms with city view. I call the room dirty because the timber floor is dusty and there are things like hair and dust and other things in between bed frames and the mattress that are clearly visible. The musty smell is so bad that it makes you cough, and the wall in between the rooms must be so thin as I was able to hear every conversations and coughs from other rooms. The shared bathroom smells and are all very dirty. Not much supply of hot water which isn't a big problem in a country like singapore but I was suffering from cold and needed hot shower. Included breakfast is bread and 5-6 kinds of jams, cereals, milk and oranges. Half the oranges were growing moulds. We booked it because of its location and price but would never ever stay here again.

Made our birthday weekend even better!
We arrived on my girlfriend's birthday and they were kind enough to upgrade us to a triple room rather than a double. We got our own bathroom and were right beside the terrace where we just had to roll out of bed to enjoy the free breakfast! It made her weekend so much more amazing. The staff were extremely eager to please and friendly. The facilities are clean and the set-up of the room is super cool. It had a double bed and then a single up on a ladder looking down. The bathroom was modern and the beds were comfy. The breakfast is pretty basic, but considering it's Singapore and this breakfast is included, we can't complain on saving a few bucks and enjoying cereal and toast. They also have unlimited coffee from a machine that also makes lattes, espresso, hot chocolate etc.

Pros: Location across from Chinatown (especially at CNY) is great. Walking distance to many downtown areas is great. Understandably space in Singapore is small. Our loft double bed and our daybed below were as stated. Cereal, toast, coffee/cocoa kitchen area. Cozy reception. Staff did not go out of their way to help their guests...waited 20 minutes for someone at check in. Told one that there was no food in the kitchen at breakfast; he did not go restock. Different day, told someone else the same, she did. Nearly all rooms from what I can tell do not have windows and are small enclosed spaces, so if you have claustrophobia, this would not work.

The rooms are really small. But clean and adequate for young travelers. The showers and the toalets without problem. Small problem is the high humidity in the build.

Good bang for buck. Room is fairly light as its close to mrt, so as long as you can sleep with in the living, all is well. Great location, and great cost in and expensive city.

Convenient... BUT
We were staying in a private room of 3. Location is just at the end of Pagoda Street, after coming out from the MRT station Exit A. However, you'll need to cross a busy road. If i'm not wrong, crossing roads without zebra crossings are prohibited in the land of Singapore. Firstly, we were not comfortable with the smell that comes of the sewerage in the toilets. However, the smell goes off after the wash. Toilets are Okay, just remember to bring a slipper and a recycle bag to stuff your clothes to avoid your clothes from getting wet as the toilets are quite small. Another annoying thing is the beam in the room (ROOM 14) - do not choose this room. When we climbed up to the upper deck, there's a big beam which makes sleeping disturbing. I'm 150cm. I do not know how a person that's taller than me going to sleep there. We had annoying guest walking and talking loudly even its pass 12am. There are no staff there to control them, and the sound proofing is totally nil. Breakfast was okay, not really interested much but overall it was a disappointing stay. My friend commented that the other branch is better which is Project 1.

I love to say that this hostel is nice, i met a lot of friends and experienced in hostel. i never tried to stay in hostel when i go somewhere so this is my 1st time i traveled around spore with friends and i admire how the hospitality of the staff, the cleanness of the room and the most important it provided wi-fi so that i can stay online. i don't buy the spore card number because i think it is not necessary for me as traveler for 5 days.

Good almost everythings , other than that very strong wifi connection in a room but.... the bed was too flatted specially at the middle part of my body --- seem it had been using for a very long time. In the room had a little bad odour but it was fine for me. The breakfast was greatest than any hostel I had been--- milk , coffee , milo, fruits, Jams , magarine, penut butter etc. ^^ YOU wouldn't regret to stey here.....

Tiny room buy great location
Room is rather tiny which is probably expected in place like Singapore. That aside, Chinatown, tourist attractions, food places and market, are all nearby. The new Downtown line station (Chinatown) is just 3mins walking distance.

Good location but noisy hostel
Great great great location. Within five minute walk of train station, right across from china town markets and restaurants. Staff were great. Room was very clean, bathroom was clean but a lot of the doors were broken which was frustrating. My two worst criticisms were that there was no sound proofing and we were kept up all hours by other people staying there. Secondly the breakfast was just some cereal and toast and you had to share your crockery with everyone so it was often dirty. If you don't mind these things then definately book here. Was more than happy with the hostel for a couple of nights but could not stay there for a week or more

This was literally the worst night of my trip. Bed bugs in both my bed and my friends. Construction in the men's bathroom left glass on the floor and woke us up early in the morning. They also refused to cancel our second night or give us a refund. Please do yourself a favor and don't stay here. Maybe if you stop booking, they'll consider making their hostel at least up to reasonable living standards. It literally couldn't get worse.

Love the coffee house beside the hostel
Good service, love the coffee house(breakfast room) beside the hostel, serving water and coffee whole day with comfortable table and chairs, this can really help guest to work and drink a cup of coffee to take a nap. Just the bed we stay has some bugs, due to the humidity. We feel itchy whole night, not really like the bathroom coz too many guests Queuing in the early morning and very small. Sometimes the toilets and bathroom are dirty. Many guests dunno how to close the sliding doors in toilet so that found some broken doors, maybe the receptionist has to teach the guest to using it. Good location.

Fairly clean room but low ceiling, not suitable for tall people. Lots of climbing stairs. Nice place to stay if you are just stopping over.
