"We had a lovely family stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen. Our room was river-view, with a beautiful sitting area. It was also a half-board rate, which meant we got to enjoy traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner each day. The public bath I used was lovely, especially the outdoor area. We also used the private onsen as a family, which was great! Easy to walk around town, and the shuttle service to the train station and the snow monkeys was very helpful. The staff were so hospitable and kind, we felt very cared for during our stay."

You really should get the half board and do traditional Japanese breakfast and breakfast. It is a peaceful and intimate look into traditional Japan. You can see the pride taken in the work. We will stay here every time we come to Japan."

Our sons shared a smaller room with tatami mats. We selected the traditional dinner and breakfast which were wonderful experiences. If you do not like traditional Japanese food you may not like the meal option. The service was great and staff helpful, despite some language limitations. It was very conveniently located near the train station and monkey park. They provided shuttles services which we found helpful."
