Independent, Zhongshan hotels

The central Taipei district of Zhongshan is one of the most inviting areas of the Taiwanese capital and welcomes plenty of visitors each year. The area is characterised by various riverside parks including Rongxing Garden Park and Yingfeng Riverside Park. In addition, there are several important historical and cultural landmarks found inside the district. A great range of hotels operate inside Zhongshan so visitors don’t have to travel far to see its attractions.

One of Taiwan’s most important attractions, the National Revolutionary Martyr’s Shrine, is a spectacular landmark that has been standing since 1969. Inside the structure, there are more than 390,000 spirit tablets representing those who perished during the many modern wars fought in the Republic of China. Tourists should see the changing of the guard ceremony held daily.

While in Zhongshan, taking some time to explore the river parks is recommended. There are numerous parks to visit, but one of the best green spaces is Dajia Riverside Park. It overlooks the Keelung River and offers plenty of recreational space for guests. At night, the views of DaZhi Bridge is spectacular from this well-landscaped park.

Zhongshan has one of the hippest night scenes in Taiwan. There are many restaurants along Nanjing West Road offering a huge range of cuisine choices. Everything from American BBQ to delightful Chinese specialties is available here. Another great spot just across the Tamsui River is the Datong District housing plenty of fun restaurants and night clubs too.

Most of the shopping in Zhongshan is available at modern shopping malls. The most famous place to shop in the district is the Zhongshan Metro Mall, which spans almost one kilometre under the ground. It stretches from Shuanglian Station to Main Station and includes more than 80 retail and service shops.
