Aquaria KLCC is one of the largest aquariums on Earth. This world class oceanarium first opened underneath Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in the heart of Malaysia's national capital in August 2005. There are currently more than 5,000 animals belonging to over 250 different land and marine animal species at Aquaria KLCC.
Level 1 contains menacing piranhas, electric eels, and even electric catfish. The starfish and live corals in the DNA Touch Pool, however, are far safer for visitors to touch. An authentic looking shipwreck is one of the highlights of the 90m Aquaria KLCC tunnel where visitors can see giant stingrays and sand tiger sharks. Reptiles, insects, amphibians, and a butterfly life cycle exhibit are part of the Jewels of the Jungle display.
Level 2 begins with the Amazon Flooded Forest, then proceeds to the Coast exhibit filled with horseshoe crabs and archer fish. The Oceanarium exhibit is filled with deep sea creatures such as a giant blotched fantail ray and octopus. The most unique creatures of all can be found in the Weird and Wonderful section. Aquaria KLCC also contains a coral discovery section and fish feeding sessions which occur three days per week.
