"I cannot say enough about the most wonderful staff at this hotel. They were so friendly and accomodating. The meals were superb, and the view from the dining room unmatched. It is to be expected that it is an older building and some things are a little different, make sure if you have mobility issues to ask questions before you go. I did see wheelchair ramps. We truly enjoyed it and wish we had stayed another night or 2 to walk the grounds."

"A busy friendly pub hotel that made us feel very welcome. Very clean, very large comfy bed. A quiet large warm room and clean bathroom. Staff were friendly and obliging and breakfast delicious. Loved the fact a table at dinner was reserved even without asking and then you could choose not to take it. We did and the menu was varied in a dining room that took good COVID precautions. We enjoyed our dinner. Really great value for money and would definitely recommend."

"Very nice place, close to the train and the ferry. The people there were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms had a beautiful view over the harbour and all the basics were there. A superb deal for the price, would definitely come back!"

" A grand pile in it's day, undergoing a gradual and much needed, refurbishment. The location is it's biggest pull, set quite high above town, with simply stunning views from frontal elevations.The welcome and general ambience proved pleasant and the public areas comfortable, tasteful and pleasing. Our (rear) bedroom was a relatively easy climb up the wide staircase to the first floor. It proved just adequate. Furnishings were functional, but a tad utility and tired, as were fixtures / fittings...

"Beautiful lochside setting with a range of seating areas and fire pit available. Very dog friendly with towels, toys and biscuits provided. All public areas are spacious which means social distancing is possible without everyone resorting to masks. Management are very friendly and keen to make your stay enjoyable. "

"The hotel might look humble from the outside, but is one of the nicest ones I've ever stayed!!! From the comfortable beds, the lovely decor, spacious room and bathroom, and such friendly and professional staff members: we were sad to leave. The room had a good tv, coffee machine and mini fridge, and USB charge points in the power outlets. Breakfast was delicious! When they say bacon, they mean bacon ❤️"
