"Lovely hotel, rooms and views. Very accommodating, for a price. Comparatively expensive for the other places we stayed in Japan, but they were excellent. Designed to be a resort, it is unnecessary to leave the property but they made everything in the area very easy to access. Common area and restaurants were very pleasant spaces to relax. "

"A very nice resort. However, our stay was based on it's great location near a ropeway that allowed us to enjoy gorgeous views of Mt Fuji on a perfectly clear morning. We appreciated the front desk staff member who filled out all the necessary paperwork to get out luggage shipped to our Kyoto hotel. Since we arrived late, we decided on room service which provided a broad menu of what we discovered was quite delicious food. The next morning, the breakfast buffet had delicious selections."

"The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were the stars of the show. The authentic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) was very evident in the room and the building's ageless architecture. Although it shows its age, it does so in authenticity, you cannot manufacture the feel and timelessness of Japanese culture. The essence of it is mainly the service, efficient, respectful and loving. Our hostess took care to make us comfortable , well fed, and well informed. With her broken english, she conveyed warmth and excitement as she must have with the many many guests that have come through this classic ryokan. Highly recommended if you're looking for a real ryokan experience in Hakone. "
