"Absolutely stunning ryokan. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had a private balcony onsen and view of the mountains. We were fed a lovely dinner (we chose the steak and it was fabulous!) and the meal ended up being multiple courses to our pleasant surprise. Breakfast was also lovely. We booked a massage for later in the evening and it was so relaxing it put me right to sleep! The ryokan was exceptionally relaxing and a perfect getaway for us between the hustle and bustle of the cities. There is a local bus that drops off right in front of Hakone Airu as well in case you don’t want to navigate your luggage up the roads, but it also isn’t a long walk from the train to the hotel either. They do also have a larger public onsen separated by male/female but we didn’t have need for it so I can’t speak to it or the policies surrounding using it. We will definitely be back!"

"Good sized and updated room. Beautiful shower and tub to soak with hot spring water. Convenient location-close to Yumoto train station and Main Street with many restaurants and shops. There is also a restaurant in the hotel. Highly recommend this property and would definitely return for another visit!"

"This is a shoe-free hotel. You leave your shoes in a locker at the entrance and walk around in socks for the entire stay. All was good until I had a simple request. I asked if an attendant could call a local clinic to find out if they could see me for an urgent eye issue. No matter how I explained my request, I couldn’t get anyone to call or explain why they wouldn’t. I’ve used Google Translate in other cities in Japan, but here it only caused confusion. I ended up wasting an hour and a half traveling to a clinic that couldn't see me that day. The buffets were good and had a lot of choices, but were chaotic."

"At the checkin I realized our room were without private onsen which was my intention. The first staff said not impossible to upgrade but when I insisted another staff came by and looked and offered upgrade with a fee. Overall a very traditional place to stay. The dinner and breakfast was included and worth the price. However I don’t recommend staying in the Annex building since it’s much older and small rooms."

"Overall, our experience was good. Our first night was wonderful- we were met with friendly staff and the dinner experience was wonderful. The food was good and each portion of the meal was explained and were presented in a beautiful manner. Although the second night’s dinner was not like the first night - we discussed it with the hotel management team and feel they are going to make every effort to ensure other guests will have a memorable experience throughout their stay. Disappointed that we couldn’t stay for breakfast the next day due to an early checkout to continue our itinerary."
