Royal Kona Resort

8/10 Good

"Clean but a bit outdated. The housekeeping staff is incredible!! The Luau was fantastic! The common areas of the property were clean and maintained. Our room was pretty outdated and mediocre. I wish there was a bit more lighting or lighting on the balconies at the least. Another big downer is the lack of coffee. I wish they offered free coffee or a coffee bar similar to most hotels. The coffee in the room is not very great but it is what it is. Overall a good place to stay! The lagoon is very beautiful and fun. It did suck a bit when the surf was high and we couldn’t use it for most of our stay but we can’t tell nature what to do! I’m glad the staff valued safety!"

"We stayed at this resort for a week and had a pleasant overall experience. Our room was spacious and equipped with all the basic essentials, which made it easy to prepare breakfast before heading out for the day and occasionally cook dinner as well. The property itself was clean and well-maintained. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub, which were great for relaxing after a day out. The service was also a highlight—any time we needed something, a quick call to the front desk resulted in prompt assistance, often within minutes. One thing to be mindful of: offers for “free gifts” typically come with a requirement to attend a 90-minute property tour, where there is a strong focus on timeshare ownership. It’s worth considering whether that’s something you’re interested in before accepting. Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay."

"I’ve stayed here twice and this hotel is really special! The downtown shopping and restaurant area, is literally right there…you can walk to everything from this hotel. The property itself, is lovely — with lots shops, an ABC store, coffee shop, restaurant, as well as pool, bar and small beach. For me, the best thing is all the beautiful artwork and history surrounding King Kamehameha, his family and heirs. Hawaii has a rich history, and it’s on display at this hotel! The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. I will stay again!"
