You get what you pay for. Beds have no privacy, blanket is incredibly thin, there's little to no sound isolation, and to be honest the rooms smell kind of bad. Lots of disrespectful backpacker-type tourists, many of whom don't respect the rules (including taking off shoes). Would like to see rules better enforced, but it seems they don't have the staff for it. The good things are proximity to bus station and some decent restaurants nearby. They have drinks for purchase that are very reasonably priced as well. There are better places to stay at nearby for similar prices but much better quality, particularly near Arab Street.

i really enjoyed my stay at lavender. first the hostel is near an MRT station. the staff are nice and friendly. The breakfast is included, you have an area to put your shoes, have computer area, a kitchen, the bathroom is clean, and there is a nice rooftop. I definitly recommand this hostel for anyone

Other guests were really noisy, they come back late in the middle of the night and were loud when moving around in the room. They woke up early and 5 am and did not have the courtesy to stay quiet. I think the staff should emphasize strongly to all guest not to be loud and disturb other guests, especially in the bunk area.

Pleasant stay near to Bendemeer rail station
Affordable stay easily accessible from the airport by train. Change at Expo to DT line and alight at DT23. Follow signs to Lavender St. Friendly reception, Basic Room with comd fortable bed. Close to a Food Court.

Best hostel!
Had a wonderful experience at Rucksack Inn @ Lavender. The rooms and beds were clean and the staff were very friendly, just like the fellow guests. During my stay at Rucksack, my worst nightmare about travelling happened- I got my time of the month and I had stained the sheets- yet the staff were very accommodating and understanding of my situation and had everything cleaned and replaced immediately. Cannot even express how thankful I was to them for that.

The facility has a very confusing layout, despite signage trying to direct you where to go. Problem is the signs blend into the wall and are hidden amongst many other competing notices and rules. Signs avertising food and drinks are also outdated with wrong prices. I felt like I was constantly giving direction to new arrivals, and my own orientation by staff was lacking. Space is well air-conditioned with the exception of the bathrooms. Bedrooms are mostly clean and comfortable. There is a strange electrical abnormality where each beds power source is plugged into the following bed in a chain leading to the main wall socket. So if the bed in front of you (or the next, or the next) unplugs wants an extra outlet they unplug you from their power bar. Imaging having finding your lamp doesn't work or your cell phone is not charging at 2am and you have to find out which bed in the chain unplugged you. There are also no lockers in the room. Breakfast was nice, toast with jams, peanut butter and Nutella with all day tea and coffee. Love that it runs till noon. Facility is relatively close to a major transit line that will take you to china town or the bay without transfer. Towels, shampoo

it was okay. Staff very nice, location good. the cheapest room was okay but it was too dark with lights out and easy to trip. shower for the cheap room was also covered in black hair and water often was cold.

Worthy backpacker hostel
Booked here for my group of 16 people (11 + 1 family of 5). They managed to get the 11 people in the same room which was very nice. Friendly staff. We can use the microwave to do light cooking, preheat food, etc. Water for refill is also available and free breakfast from 6 - 12! WiFi was good and fast. The location is central, very near 2 bus stops and a Seven Eleven. 10 minutes walk from Boon Keng MRT.

Great hostel, 10 minute walk from the subway
Spend 6 days in this hostel, what can i say very very good. The staff is awesome, if you need anything, and I mean anything, they are always glad to help you out. "Need a map of the city -you got it" "Trying to find a good restaurant- they got you covered" "Need a second blanket because its quite cold in the room-sure thing" etc. This place is cozy and fun for spending your evenings after a long day of sightseeing. Any time of day or night you can enjoy complimentary tea or coffee as much as you can drink. Which doesnt really sound like alot, but after a hard day its a really nice thing. Besides that there is a free breakfast, not much, but its just enough to get you started for the day. Especially if you are too lazy in the morning to look for a place to eat (like me). One thing that put me off at first is that you are not allowed to wear any shoes inside, at first it was a little strage, but after a couple of days you get used to it, plus the janitor cleans all of the floors every morning, so its sparking clean. Another great thing is that this place has its own roof top garden. Its a real pleasure to sit up there, enjoy the weather and have a drink or two. Overall definately will recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to stay in Singapore. Its fair price and plainly good place.

The rooms were clean enough, and they had storage lockers for your items--probably large enough to accommodate a day backpack but not your actual sack. Staff were helpful in booking. Bathrooms were relatively clean with hot water. Individual bed lights for each bed. Dorm is a tight space but manageable. Did not appreciate that even though the dorms have a 11pm noise "curfew," the staff did not care that people were partying until 2am in the common area which is RIGHT BESIDE the dorms so you can hear everything. There is virtually no point in having an in-dorm noise curfew.

It is very nice. It is very clean although no private bath even with own room. Unlimited coffee/tea with bread with choices of 3 spreads or jam which are strawberry chocolate and peanut butter. All in all if i would go back to Singapore i will probably stay there again.

I arrived around 5am and another guest opened the door for me. I was informed that the receptionist won't be available until 8am. The receptionist came before 8 and I introduced myself. She told me that they don't have available room yet since it was way earlier than check in time. However, she told me that I could use the shower and leave my luggage in the meantime.

It was my first hostile and it was very good
It was a good experience for my first time. I didn't know what to expect but it was better than what I thought it would be. People were very friendly, helpful, and outgoing. A few cute girls to talk to as well is always a plus.

I reach quite late around 11pm...the staff still gave a warm welcoming and room reserved guaranteed.. I stay in a pod...have privacy and comfortable sleep...Air-condition is well-working..room also clean...Unlimited 24hrs provide bread and few types of jammed...Overall is value for money

Great hostel
Really enjoyed our stay here. The dorms are comfortable and the 'pod style' beds give you plenty of privacy and block out a lot of noise. Each bed has a power socket, reading light and lockable storage area for your bags.Tea, coffee and toast available all day was a great bonus. Oil burners all over ensure there are no bugs, which is great! The only negative is the location- its a 10/15 minute walk to an MRT station, but there are bus stops nearby.

Very clean hostel, very friendly and helpful staff. However, I think charging $10 for laundry is far too expensive - around $3 would be fair. Charging $3 for a towel also seems excessive. The location is great. The hostel itself is very small and rooms are all off the one main corridor and not soundproof. Many guests hang out in the reception/social area which is right by the bedrooms. I was woken by people talking and laughing late at night, so not the best place for a good night's sleep.

Great staff, super clean.
Staff was very helpful, and very kind. Laundry was a bit expensive, it was a small washer, and was $10 for each wash (included dry). Breakfast was available at anytime, which was nice if you like to sleep in.
