Looking at the photos of this hotel online gave me the impression I was getting a heck of a deal for $18/night.
According to the photos online, the lobby looked luxurious, and the rooms looked elegant. Upon my arrival, I was astounded by the beautiful fountains outside and the lobby's luxurious detailing. So far so good. However, when I was lead to my room, I was shocked at how bleak and barren the hallways looked (like the hallway of a college dormitory). Looks aren't everything to me, but when something is advertised as a luxury hotel, I expect it to look a little nicer than a dorm.
Anyways, arrived at my room. Although the linens and bedding were fine, everything else was just as bleak as the hallways. I wasn't impressed with the place, but the most important thing to me was resting comfortably. Which I didn't. The doors are very old, and you have to slam them shut to close them when you leave. In a hallway of 20 rooms, people are slamming doors all night. The walls are super thin, so you can hear everything people are saying/shouting all night long. The first night I probably received 1-2 hours of sleep.
