Pros and Cons....Pros- staff is excellent! Everyone super friendly and super helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Its right on the beach. Relax and enjoy the kite surfers glide by....or do it yourself! The two pools are also nice. The rooms are charming with beautiful wood floors and cabinets. The private, outdoor shower on our back porch was perfect for after a swim in the ocean. The restaurant is nice with good food.
Cons...a few, sadly. For such a nice resort that caters to international travelers, the wifi is not good. Isla Cabana needs to take whatever steps are needed to upgrade this. Its slow, and wont keep you logged in, so youre constantly having to sign back in. Next- we spent top dollar for a Naked Island room. From the photos we thought we were getting a hot tub on our front porch. Note that it is NOT a hot tub. The water is cool, and the jets are few, with poor power. You will not have a hot tub experience. Noise- the most expensive rooms are on the property edge. Not sure what was behind us (bars, restaurants, homes) but the noise coming in late at night is not good. Dogs- the village needs a dog catcher. They roam freely on the beach and bark throughout the night. Finally, the free breakfast was ok...coffee not so good. For the final morning we just bought our own Nescafe packets. The scrambled eggs were usually cold, the bacon high in fat. Fruit was good.
Would we stay here again? Probably. Dont splurge for the hot tub, and bring ear plugs.
