The hotel is centrally located. Close to a lot of the popular sites in Hanoi. The hotel is clean and modern. The staff is great, they recommended restaurants and tours to join while staying in Hanoi. I would recommend this hotel.

First thing first the hotel is in amazing area central location. BUT the rooms are very outdated, small, poorly maintained. The staff is kind and welcoming. Breakfast is ok. ( lots of options around the hotel very cheap food). And most important!!!!!! We booked the hotel a head of time and planned to stay for 5 nights. Reservation was approved by property. After 2 nights at the hotel we were notified by the staff that we have to leave the day after because it’s holiday and they are all leaving home the hotel will be closed for 4 days!!!!!!

Very disappointed. As a Platinum member, Expedia said the hotel should have given us free upgrade when rooms are available, especially when the pricing on the booked rooms and the upgraded rooms are the same ($50). We did not received it upon check-in request, nor the Welcome Drinks (both times as we had booked couple days earlier). No bell/door service to help with luggage. Coffee was served room temperature. Rooftop bar was nonexistent. Definitely not you 4 stars hotels. Expedia needs to reclassify them. Everything seems old. Breakfast was below average compared to other hotels.

NOT a 4 stars hotel, more like a 2 stars. We have been traveling in Vietnam for 2 months so we have stayed in lots of hotels. No Welcome drinks, No Bell/Door service for help with luggage from street ornto room. Small family operation which we often love to support. No table service. Breakfast so-so. No free upgrades for Platinum members on Expedia upon request at check-in--there were two Junior Suites (for same price) but they did trade us up. :-(

Really fun area, clean and feels like a luxury hotel. The spa services are a bit unorthodox. Didn't enjoy the pedicure I received. Other than that, the staff was welcoming and helpful!

We recently stayed at Matilda boutique and what can I say besides OMG. Hang was a lovely manager. She took care of us from check in to check out. The room was exquisite and by all means comfortable. The water was warm and the sheets were clean. The hotel was in such a convenient location that it was just a short stroll to everything we required. The breakfast had an assortment of options all deliciously crafted by their in-house chef. I would without question recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Hanoi.

Nice hotel in great location
The hotel is in a great location to explore the old quarter. It is clean and well presented, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast options were good and could do made-to-order. The room was quite small (a classic double) and I had actually tried to update with hotels.com before arriving but it had not updated in the hotels’s system and they did not have availability to upgrade which was a shame. However it did not impact our stay that much, and I would recommend as great value for money for a short stay in Hanoi.

Pretty hotel and room. Clean. Comfortable bed. Good central location in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Quiet at most times but a little noisy on weekend nights up to about 10:30 (my room was towards the street; those directly on the street would be even noisier I assume). Good breakfast. A big plus was the staff, who spoke good English and were very helpful. In particular Hang helped me with a problem I was having communicating with my bank in the US and with other questions I had during my stay.

Comfy and convenient hotel for exploring olquarter
Can't beat the location for exploring the old quarter everything is within 5 minutes walk, staff very friendly only thing I noticed is the roof top bar is no longer open however you can still take your own drinks and chill sunbathe up there and the doors to the rooms weren't very soundproof i would recommend using ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Beds and pillows extremely comfy I slept very well

The hotel is very centrally located in the heart of the action. If you don't mind some car/ moto bike honking, this is the place for you! Reception staff is friendly and helpful. The staff speak and understand English well. You can very easily find a place to eat or have coffee right outside the hotel doors or within walking distance. The bustling "night market" is an experience for sure. Get ready to see the locals and lots and lots of people including tourists of course. Breakfast buffet here is also amazing. You can order eggs but ask for them to be made without milk, otherwise they are runny. I feel the addition of signs identifying food items would be beneficial. I asked every day what several items were. The hotel is able to exchange currency. I exchanged my US dollars to vn dong here. I also went to the spa for a green tea body scrub (smelled like green tea) and a body massage. The gal that did my massage was very young. She may still be learning but the massage was not the best I've had. Hotel guests receive a discount on spa services and the spa is open late. The hotel also offers airport transfer at an additonal cost via driver/ cab service. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and stay here again if I were to return to Hanoi.

Awful experience with substandard hotel
I recently had a disappointing experience at this hotel. I had booked a room with a king bed and a city view, but upon arrival, my four-night booking was not even in their system. The room I was given had two twin beds pushed together and a view of someone else's balcony. To make matters worse, the room was unclean and tired, showers direct and rusting, and half bottles of complementary shower gel left in the room. The air conditioning unit also blew directly onto the bed, making it impossible to achieve an optimum room temperature. The housekeepers were so noisy in the morning too! We ended up checking out the next morning as it wasn’t a nice experience or sleep. Despite the hotel's promise to refund me for the nights I didn't stay, they ended up rejecting my claim through hotels.com. Overall, it was a poor hotel experience. The unfulfilled booking, substandard room, uncleanliness, noisy housekeepers, and lack of 24-hour reception were major drawbacks. I would caution others to reconsider staying at this hotel!

the service of the staff is unbeatable at the front desk. they helped me arrange and book tours to halong and ninh binh, helped me plan and organize my trip, and everything in between. hang vu was fantastic especially. the location is very good, very walkable and accessible, with restaurants, bars, everything very closeby. at night it isn't loud or bothersome, and the rooms are relatively spacious and clean. i would definitely return.

Location was great. Worst customer service we ever encountered. Front desk only wanted to give one key. Front desk wouldn't greet us after we turned down their excursion tour and forced them to give us another key. Breakfast was garbage. We were in room 204 with a window to a closet. Only reason we stayed was we were tired. How did this place even get on expedia?

If your partner in room, the reception can open the door , we have 24 hours for service . To improve hotel service, i asked all the staff must take care all the guest & help them at any time. The hotel is centrally located, great customer service, excellent breakfast. So many restaurants, shopping and attractions in the area. The manager Hang Vu was so helpful. If you are staying here, don’t worry about booking excursions or trips, she’s very knowledgeable and helpful, she also runs a travel agency and can book any trips you want and get you a really good price and options. Also to extend your stay or return to this hotel coordinating your trips. She also made arrangements for transportation to/from the airport and so much easier to have a driver just waiting for you at the airport. Highly recommend. The rooms are small and clean but just sufficient if you just need a comfortable bed and convenience. Daily housekeeping is provided throughout your stay. 24 hr front desk with English speaking staff. Husband and wife are great team and we arranged a food tour with the husband who is very knowledgeable of local history I recommend doing the food tour on arrival so you have a better understanding of the different food options.

Staff were fantastic, very welcoming and always there to help. However, we did find that as we were next to the list and there was a storage cupboard under our room, the hotel was noisy and were woken up at 5:30 each morning.

An Oasis Amidst Chaos …
An oasis amid chaos …. You find yourself in the madness of Old Quarter, Hanoi approaching the impressive entrance doors to the Matilda …. Upon entering the majestic interior, serenity surrounds you making it difficult to believe things can change so completely just by walking through a doorway …. The staff is incredible, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, they really seem to care about the people in their hotel. I was truly amazed when I was walked most of the way down the block to be shown where to exchange currency! Breakfast was truly a learning experience for a newbie to authentic Vietnamese food with the person overseeing breakfast going above and beyond to ensure that my wife and I had the best experience with an aspect of the hotel he obviously took great pride in. The rooms were impressive in every way … I can not recommend the Matilda highly enough! Definitely a must stay at hotel!

Nice hotel. Would recommend
Pretty nice hotel. Would recommend. The rooms are a little small but they are nice and clean. The only negative is it is very close to a street where people eat and block off the whole street (at night) so it can be very noisy. If you are a light sleeper, I would not recommend this location. The noise did not bother me.

The staff at this property consistently go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Need an extra towel? Need a different hair dryer? 2 minutes later you have it. The breakfast is abundant with a wonderful variety for different cultures. The gentleman at breakfast during the week is a bit crabby in demeanor, but he cares so very much about the food and how to experience it, he gave wonderful advice. Thoi, at the front desk is a fountain of Vietnam knowledge, not only the sites but the history. Thanh at the front desk went so out of her way to make sure we had copies of out visa. Even calling in on her day off. The only suggestion I have is the bathroom in the room we had needs some updating.

I met Jasper, hotel staff, when I checked in. He is very nice and helpful also other staffs. The hotel is located next to Beer street, old quarter area which have walking street on every Fri-Sun night. I do really appreciate for overall this trip.

We have stayed in 3 hotels in Hanoi during our time there. This was the second most expensive hotel out of the three. I am very disappointed by it. The least expensive hotel we stayed in (Aquarius Grand Hotel) was far far better than this one! Our room here hadn’t even been cleaned properly - we found a dirty sock in the room! Breakfast was a buffet and had hardly any vegetarian options. The breakfast staff also did not seem to care when we asked about vegetarian options and also told us the fried rice was vegetarian when it clearly had meat in it. When I pointed out the meat they were like oh yes this isn’t vegetarian. My husband is a vegetarian and basically was just pointed to a plate with salad to have for breakfast. The reception staff were nice but that’s the only positive I have. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Stayed 2 nights in the larger room, and on our return from an external tour , we booked their smallest room for 2-3h to rest prior to our flight out of Hanoi. Overall the hotel was a great choice, decently comfortable and modern, with a small but very sufficient breakfast provided, decent cable channels, fluffy pillows, and the larger room was very spacious. Service was very personable and amenities were good. The hotel is in the heart of old quarter making it very convenient to access tourist spots and nightlife in Hanoi, with a convenience store not too far away. Only complaints would be that a small cockroach was found in the room on the first day, but no more after that. Staying on the 2nd floor proved to be quite noisy in the AM during breakfast time, you could hear a lot even in the room. Also the rate for booking a room for 2-3h was pretty exorbitant compared to a full day price. Nonetheless I would recommend a stay here as the location is great and amenities quite satisfactory for the price. :) Thanks a lot
