My room had lots of street noise in the Gold Club. The food in the Gold Club wasn’t great little to choose from. I’ve been to way better. Disappointed value wasn’t worth it!
The staff were all very professional and worked hard to make sure the experience was a "Gold experience" The lounge was amazing. The selection for breakfast and afternoon snacks were impressive. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We would certainly return and would subscribe to the "Gold Experience"
We truly could not have asked for a better weekend getaway to celebrate my spouse’s birthday. The interior was absolutely beautiful, and the rooms were spacious and impeccably clean. There was more than enough room for our family of four to feel completely comfortable. The lounge was perfect for mid-day snacks, and we relaxed and played board games. Breakfast was amazing - tons of options (fresh fruit, pastries, hot breakfast, many coffee and tea options), and very high quality food.
What really made the stay exceptional was the staff—they were warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make everything seamless and enjoyable. Their helpful advice and local tips were much appreciated, and they made the birthday celebration feel genuinely special.
The pool and gym are also excellent additions and rounded out an already perfect stay. We left feeling relaxed, well cared for, and eager to return.
The hotel is beautiful and grand, however, severely understaffed. The check in staff at Zoe were not responsive or cordial on a few occasions. The three personnel at the desk weren’t even serving other customers at the time. They didn’t even look up to ask if they could help. I had a great server wait on us at the restaurant and a pleasant server at the bar. This hotel has many aspects that are nice but the service needs to be stepped up. I also waited an hour for the valet to deliver our car, others guests who were staying had similar complaints about the long valet waits. Given that valet is the only option and at $67.00 a night the horribly long wait is not acceptable at any price.
Room was amazing and clean, staff was very attentive as well as super friendly and always willing to help anytime, absolutely LOVED our gold level lounge too! Super yummy breakfast, amazing spread including smoked salmon and we loved the finger foods they had in the evening as well as the desserts after that!! Such an amazing experience overall, super happy we chose to book this for our 20th Anniversary!!
The hotel rest room on the main lobby was not clean. Paper on the floor, dirty toilets and sinks.
Zoe's Bar had very slow service. It took ten minutes to get seated in the lounge. Another ten minutes for a server to get our order. And a full half an hour to get our cocktails and appetizers.
The hotel room in general needs an update. The fixtures in the bathroom are coming away from the wall and sink. The shower has very poor temperature controls. The windows are filthy. The blinds are either up or down. There are no privacy shears which could give added protection from the building across the street.
Overall, I felt that this hotel is not up to the standard of other Fairmonts that I have visited in Banff and Toronto,
A beautiful hotel, with amazing staff, and the gift of an amazing history told throughout the building. The location is ideal with the Parliament Buildings a short walk in one direction, the Byward Market in another, the Rideau Canal, museums, galleries and shopping all close by. Highly recommended.
