The Pudong Riverside Promenade and Park is a green jewel in the middle of the financial district, popular with local office workers.
For glorious views across the city, you won’t find anywhere better than the Pudong Riverside Promenade. Surrounded by picturesque parkland, the boulevard is filled with locals enjoying the fresh river breeze.
Spanning the 2.5 kilometres from Dongchang Road to Taidong Road, this sprawling walkway along the banks of the Huangpu River is a popular spot for anyone wanting to stretch their legs and watch the world go by. Why not don a pair of rollerblades or grab a bicycle and join the locals, allowing yourself to be swept along by the crowd. The promenade is popular with everyone from office workers to retired couples, making it a great spot to relax and watch the world go by.
Head over around sunset for the spectacular sight of The Bund lit up against the city skyline, with the circling multi-coloured beams creating a free light show as they reflect off the water. Taking in some of the best views across the cityscape, this is the perfect place to marvel at the architectural genius behind the city’s most technologically advanced buildings including the Shanghai World financial Centre and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
Sit back and enjoy an indulgent dinner outside one of the many restaurants and cafés that line the riverfront, or grab a snack from a street-food kiosk as you make your way along the promenade.
The Promenade closes late and opens early, making it a great place to visit around dusk and dawn. It couldn’t be easier to get to, with ferries and buses stopping nearby and the Lujiazu metro station just a few minutes’ walk away.
