You won't regret staying here. It's an old building thoughtfully refurbished, near a lot of the destinations, on the river and french doors with balconies you can actually use.

The walls are paper thin. Floors above shake when anyone walks across them, so sleep was only possible when people above were asleep. Pillows were thick and hard as a rock. One door wouldn't budge, so view was half the view. Bright lights on sensors blast too brightly at night jarring the nerves. The staff are nice but when I first called, directions were spotty because that staff member doesn't speak English and couldn't give me clear answers - even translated over the internet. It was all very unprofessional. It seems the owner of the establishment doesn't realize that comfort is important.

Dear Guest, We would likle to thank you for your preference towards Varandas de Lisboa. We regret to know that your stay was not so pleasant as we wish it would be. We did everything we could to help you in every way and to listen to all your complaints. Regarding the noise, we have moved you straight away on your first day when you informed us that you could hear the children above you running. We moved you to a different floor. Regarding the windows we have checked all the windows and all are opening correctly, as they have two ways of opening. The light sensors only get on if someone passes by. Regarding the staff member, he was the one who helped you out on the day you arrived and the taxi dropped you far away from the hotel. He went straight away from the reception to pick you up and bring you to the hotel, helping with the bags and taking you direcly to the room so you could relax straight away and do the checking process on the next morning. The owner of the property has three priorities: Comfort, cleanliness and customer service. This is what we work for every single day. Our guests are part of us that is the reason why every single feedback given daily is so important to us. Kind regards, Varandas de Lisboa

Location was great and close to everything! My only complaint was the shower door strip kept coming off so we notified the staff about it but it never got fixed so we have a wet bathroom floor every time we used the shower.
