The staff here tried very hard to provide quality service. The bar/restaurant was pretty good and the pool looked nice. The place was a bit run down though, and the noise from adjacent rooms was a bit much. I probably would not stay here again, but it would probably suit some people well.

Motel-like experience
Had more of a motel feel than what I expect from a Mercure. Hard to find the entrance but staff were very nice there. The restaurant was fairly so-so. However they had two parties that night we were there with doofdoof music audible in our room despite being far away from it. Not awful but not that great either

They do turn off the music at 11pm as that is hotel policy.Apologies that it was hard to find the entrance. Air con didn’t work, no gym facilities (which was an essential criteria when booking), and nobody interested in doing anything about it. Wish we’d checked in earlier so we had time to find an alternative.

We were very disappointed with our room, ants everywhere, deep bath was unsafe to step in to for shower, no bedside table for second bed nor lights above bed, air conditioning was inadequate, parking meant we had to lug our own luggage across entire facility. Overall very disappointing

We acknowledge there is an ant problem at the property and in Townsville as general due to the climate. Our pest control company are sourcing ways to minimise this. Lovely poolside area, lots of greenery surrounding the grounds. The rooms need refurbishing, they’re a little too updated. Overall a lovely place to stay, I’ll be back

Staff (front desk, housekeeping, restaurant), friendly and efficient. However, the property , apart from the gardens and the front desk/restaurant area, i.e. the rooms --is grimy and run-down. And that includes our room, which was grimy, grubby, and very, very tired. Dirty doors, stained carpet and upholstery, dings isn the wall, very old-fashioned bathroom, with shower in bathtub and thus dangerous to get into. No grab-bar; asked for a mat for the tub, which was provided. Ditto only one reading light in the room; a second was also provided. Why should we have had to ask? Should have been there in the first place. Even the hand-held hair dryer was grubby and dirty. Basic I don't mind, except for the price, which in this case was at least $100 more than was warranted. But grubby is another matter. Also -- beware if you don't have a car. No public transportation nearby and $20-$30 to get into Townsville by taxi. Whoever owns this property can be proud of the staff, but embarrassed and ashamed by the state of the rooms -- or at least the one we were in, which I'm guessing would be typical of the rest.

The property is in need of basic maintenance, footpath bricks are loose or a trip hazard the door frames are rusted. The maps posted around the property need updating. The restaurant needs an insect repellent system and a chef who can cook the menu as it is described. Also, room service is supposed to be room service and not require an extra payment for it to be delivered to the room.
