"The hotel is lovely and the staff was nice, but it was not a good experience. My room was unpleasant. My bathroom (toilet) didn’t work.
There was also a problem on arrival. I had a terrible time finding the place because the hotels.com listing had no proper address. The cab driver who has worked here for decades had never heard of this tiny place. I ended up dropped me a mile away (where the dot on google maps was) after midnight and a long day of travel. "We stayed at The Reef Coco Beach in Playa del Carmen and upgraded to the Premium package—definitely worth it! From the moment we arrived, the service felt elevated. We were greeted with a welcome drink and a bottle of wine in the room, and the minibar was restocked daily, which was a great touch.
The beach is beautiful and steps away, though a bit narrow in places. The VIP bar (Bar & Mar) was perfect for relaxing with premium cocktails in a more private setting. Having access to the Japanese restaurant Samurai was a highlight—delicious food and fun teppanyaki-style cooking.
We also loved that we could use the amenities at the sister resort (Reef Playacar)—they even included the shuttle!"
