Singapore’s newest glamour spot, Marina Bay is the area east of Esplanade Drive, and includes a host of landmarks. The area is one of the most recognised parts of Southeast Asia, as it boasts iconic sights like the Marina Bay Sands and the famous Singapore Flyover. Plenty of hotels are found inside the area and in Singapore’s nearby CBD.
Don’t Miss
Marina Bay is one of Singapore’s most important tourism areas, with a variety of landmarks to explore.
A great way to make money, and have a great night doing it, is to visit the Marina Bay Sands Casino. With over 600 gaming tables available, not to mention more than 1,000 slot machines, the casino is a glitzy attraction that always offers an incredible night out. Bring an ID card to get in.
Unbelievable views of Singapore’s wonderful skyline can be found from Marina Bay. The Sands SkyPark is a surfboard-shaped pool and park that sits atop the Marina Bay Sands hotel, some 55 storeys above city. Another option for views is the Singapore Flyer. This massive ferris wheel is 150m tall at its highest point, and the rotation lasts over 30 minutes.
The famous Gardens by the Bay are located inside the Marina Bay area. Tourists will really feel like they have stumbled into the future when visiting here. There are several giant trees that have been artificially built. At night these massive structures are lit-up spectacularly. Two conservatories are also found within the park.
Restaurants and Bars
Gluttons Bay is the cheapest option for dining in Marina Bay. This outdoor eatery boasts some of the best hawker stalls in the city-state. However, this district is also the best place to enjoy some of Asia’s best restaurants. Marina Bay Sands has two of Singapore’s grandest restaurants, not to mention an ever-growing night scene. The area around Marina Square also contains some interesting restaurants that are great for lunch meals.
Shopping
Marina Bay is renowned for housing some of the most expensive shopping malls in Singapore. If tourists are looking for watches and other fine accessories, then Millenia Mall is the place to visit. Another expensive shopping facility here is the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. More than 350 high-priced retailers are found here. Of course, Suntec City, which is Singapore’s second-largest mall, is perfect for shopaholics too.
